Other Virtues: Issue #2 is a riso magazine around the theme of "I WANT". This issue hears from 18 women who documented and performed traditionally-sidelined aspects of motherhood, as to be seen and celebrated. 

Highlights from this issue: What if the mom is a big, gay artist? Why I kept my maiden name. Cutting bangs. Painting a mural (just for me). Romance novel recommendations. A yellow molé recipe to share. And more.

Other Virtues exists to normalize and appreciate real scenes of motherhood, centered on the woman and not on the child, that complicate pervasive ideas of the virtuous mother — clean, calm, self-sacrificing — by presenting “other virtues” such as disorganization, maximalism, and non-traditional femininity. The series is produced in a riso booklet format featuring photographs, illustrations, and text. BearBear publishes the series semi-annually, featuring work by Diana H. Chu in collaboration with fellow mothers*.
