Risograph art zine by Diana H. Chu
"Wherefore each of you, when his turn comes, must go down to the general underground abode, and get the habit of seeing in the dark." — Plato's Republic
Altostraat is an ode to friendship, childhood, and beautiful objects. Or is it a secular parable about consumerism in disguise? Costume, signaling, façade... these ideas are woven into an airy, mysterious, yet cheeky romp into the fictional world of "Altostraat". It pairs Diana's meandering colored pencil line-work with Risography's hazy touch and opulent colors. The result is a hand-sewn zine with a frosted paper cover that feels as ephemeral as it is weighty. A nod to the "Altostratus" cloud type it was loosely named after.
